Job Summary
The Dry Utility Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the successful design, permitting, and construction coordination of dry utility systems for land development projects. This position will collaborate closely with project teams, utility providers, and municipal agencies to ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements. The Dry Utility Coordinator will also support the delivery of utility services, project administration, and communication with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
1. Dry Utility Coordination :
- Collaborate with utility companies (e.g., power, telecom, gas) to coordinate design, permitting, and installation of dry utility infrastructure.
- Manage the dry utility design process by reviewing plans, addressing utility comments, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and local standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the project team, utility providers, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate timely utility service applications and track progress for approvals and installations.
- Resolve utility-related issues and conflicts during design and construction phases.
- Maintain documentation for all utility coordination activities, including correspondence, permits, and approvals.
2. Project Administration :
Track and maintain dry utility schedules, milestones, and deliverables to align with overall project timelines.Assist project managers in updating project logs, documents, and budgets related to dry utility scopes.Follow up on agency reviews, ensuring timely responses and resolution of comments.Record meeting minutes during utility coordination sessions and distribute action items to relevant stakeholders.Utilize project management tools to monitor and report on utility coordination progress.3. Client and Stakeholder Communication :
Collaborate with clients, engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure dry utility requirements are clearly defined and met.Provide regular updates to project teams and clients on utility coordination progress and potential impacts.Foster strong working relationships with utility companies to streamline communication and coordination.4. Process Improvement :
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for dry utility coordination to enhance efficiency and consistency.Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to streamline utility coordination efforts.Evaluate current project management tools and systems for effectiveness in tracking utility coordination activities.5. Permitting and Compliance :
Ensure that all utility designs and installations meet local, state, and federal regulations.Manage the preparation and submission of utility permit applications.Monitor permit status and coordinate with utility providers to address any permitting challenges.Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.2 years of experience in dry utility coordination, land development, or a related field.Technical Skills :Familiarity with dry utility design, permitting, and installation processes.Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project) and office software (e.g., MS Office Suite).Knowledge of local utility standards, regulations, and permitting processes in Phoenix, AZ.Soft Skills :Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders.Problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.Additional Qualifications :Experience in working with utility providers, such as SRP, APS, and Southwest Gas, is preferred.Knowledge of land development processes and practices is a plus.PMP or other project management certifications are an asset.Requirements :
