EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned.
- Designs and writes new computer programs; maintains/modifies existing programs.
- Resolves problems caused by application software errors; assists users with application software problems.
- Works with departmental representatives on new systems or modifications to existing systems; trains users on new and modified systems; and answers inquiries regarding program use.
- Creates systems documentation for both data processing and user department personnel; prepares related reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to: Define problem areas, collect and evaluate data, validate conclusions and make recommendations, plan coordinate and initiate action necessary to implement recommendations; develop data processing systems for efficient operations; modify and write programs for efficient business applications; write instructions and procedures and prepare systems and programming documentation; identify and take corrective actions to solve problems in programs and production systems; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with users and others contacted in course of work; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form; and give continuing, meticulous attention to detail.
Education and Experience: Equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, business administration or closely related field and two years of full-time programming experience or one year in a public agency performing duties equivalent to those of a Programming Analyst I.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Essential Duties require the following physical skills and work requirements:
Requires the ability to exert a small amount of physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another; requires sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform semi-skilled repetitive movements, such as data entry or use of other office equipment or supplies; some positions require sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying the weight of computer equipment.
