What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sutton Elementary School Principal (PK-5) position at Sutton Public Schools?
The Principal serves as the educational leader of the school, administering all facets of its instructional program, including the co-curricular activities; supervises all certified and non-certified staff assigned to the facility; and establishes expectations for student learning performance, conduct, and attendance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implements federal and state laws, administrative regulations and school committee policies, as they apply to the school
2. Supervises the delivery of instruction to students ensuring that teachers focus on the district curriculum and the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks to meet student needs and requirements
3. Supervises and evaluates certified and non-certified personnel assigned to the school
4. Demonstrates fiduciary responsibility through effective development and management of the budget and school activity funds
5. Effectively manages an efficient office and record-keeping system
6. Encourages and facilitates faculty and staff professional growth
7. Fosters positive student, parent and staff relationships
8. Encourages positive public relations within and outside the school
9. Hires and recommends highly qualified staff members through the use of district hiring protocols
10. Exercises leadership necessary to make the school facility a safe, attractive, and productive place in which to learn and work
11. Develops a fair and consistent system for student discipline
12. Attends school committee meetings, as required
13. Maintains currency in education practices and invests in one’s own professional development
14. Adheres to the standards of the school’s accrediting agencies
15. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
The Sutton Public Schools Superintendent will offer a contract with a regionally competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Any offer will also include Town benefits (medical, dental).
