What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction position at Suulutaaq?
Suulutaaq, an established general contractor, is seeking an experienced full-time Construction Project Estimator with knowledge, in Heavy Civil construction, for our office in Springfield, Oregon. Our ideal candidate would demonstrate experience in grading, paving, underground utilities, Mass excavation, Road building.
Essential Job Functions:
- Understands equipment and production rates to provide competitive estimates
- Analyze plans and specifications to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates
- Has a thorough understanding of the scope for specific assigned trades
- Contacts multiple subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing for each bid item
- Write, submit, and track Request for Information and clarifications
- Reviews all bid items in house and performs a comprehensive Bid Day analysis of specific assigned trades
- Enters all bid information into Company estimating software
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Prepares subcontractors bid packages
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Must demonstrate a current working knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software
- Must have 5 years field experience and 5 years Heavy Civil estimating experience
- Must be able to work alone with minimal supervision
- Candidates must be able to pass a drug test and background check as part of the selection process.
- Candidate must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
A Plus:
- Field Project Management experience
- Estimating experience in urban/high vehicular and pedestrian environments
- P-6 Scheduling Software experience
- Been lead estimator on $10 million projects
