Head Start Teacher Assistant
Work Schedule: M-F, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, 10 month position
Salary: $15.84

Suwannee Valley 4Cs is the Head Start and Early Head Start grantee in Columbia, Hamilton, Lafayette and Suwannee counties. Established in 1985, we are a private, non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of low-income children and their families by offering comprehensive early childhood development services.
Qualifications:
- Age-appropriate Staff Credential Preferred
- Required Child care training (Parts I & II – 40 hours) pursuant to Chapter 65C-22
- Safe Sleep/Shaken Baby Syndrome training as required by DCF to complete at Orientation/within 30 days of hire
- 5 Hour VPK Emergent Literacy Course as required by DCF
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Must clear Department of Children and Families background screening requirements
- Must pass a physical
Teacher Assistant Essential Functions:
- will assist the Lead Teacher in conducting classroom activities, maintaining classroom environment and ratios, and supervising children;
- will assist the Lead Teacher with planning, recordkeeping and other classroom related duties as requested
Skills:
- Ability to lift 45 lbs. from floor level and carry 75 feet several times a day
- Ability to get up and down from floor level throughout the day
- Flexible, resourceful and cooperative attitude; adapts positively to change
- Good communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain warm, nurturing long-term relationships with young children and their families
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates and peers
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of low income families with young children
- Personal commitment to the healthy development of young children
- Good record-keeping skills
