Position Title: Swine Research Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Swine Research Manager to oversee daily production and research operations at our four (4) wean-to-finish research barns. This role involves managing a research team, ensuring animal welfare, implementing biosecurity protocols, and maintaining high standards in herd health and trial execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead and train the research team in daily operations, hiring processes, and performance management.
- Herd Health & Biosecurity: Working closely with a team of veterinarians and researchers to oversee animal health, ventilation, biosecurity measures, and compliance with animal welfare standards.
- Research Management: Implement and manage trial protocols, sample collection, and data monitoring for research accuracy.
- Feed Systems Oversight: Manage and maintain feed systems to ensure proper function and data integrity.
- Operational Support: Assist with pig receiving, allocation, marketing, and other research-related activities as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in swine production, research, or animal husbandry is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and teamwork abilities.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for 5-8 hours per day, and frequently bend, reach, squat, and kneel.
Required License/Certification
- Valid Driver’s License
