What are the responsibilities and job description for the Programs Administrator-Food Waste position at SWACO?
PURPOSE
Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) has an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about a sustainable future. The Program Administrator-Food Waste will plan and facilitate collaborative efforts among Central Ohio organizations, businesses, schools, and communities to implement and advance the activities identified in the Central Ohio Food Waste Action Plan . The position will be responsible for developing and advancing projects and activities focused on preventing, rescuing, and recycling food waste in the region and help to position Central Ohio as a leader in addressing food waste issues. This position will work collaboratively with other SWACO staff and consultants to design and implement project activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop a workplan and implement activities tied to the Food Waste Action Plan;
Organize group engagements with stakeholders; scheduling and facilitating meetings, recording and documenting outcomes;
Maintain and build relationships with partner organizations and community members;
Manage, update and maintain the Save More Than Food website and coordinate the expansion of the Save More Than Food campaign with regional partners and through paid and earned media efforts;
Develop and administer new programs and resources, such as competitions, collaborative grants, educational materials and resources;
Provide technical outreach and support to businesses, institutions, non-profits, and residents seeking to reduce and divert food waste;
Collaborate with the food industry to develop and promote food waste prevention and diversion tools, programs, and resources such as pilots, case studies, and recognition opportunities;
Support the development and growth of a regional food rescue network composed of public and private partners to capture and redistribute edible food to individuals in need;
Assist with the expansion of regional food waste composting efforts and programs;
Develop communications such as newsletters and stories for publications;
Provide community outreach through presentations and engagement at community events;
Provide written weekly updates on progress; track and measure impacts, accomplishments, goals and objectives;
Identify and pursue grant and funding opportunities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business management, environmental studies, public administration, or related field; or equivalent experience;
Experience in managing programs;
Understanding of waste diversion and recycling programs;
Public speaking and communication skill sets, and
Valid Ohio driver’s license and personal vehicle.
