Job Title: Production Manager

Department: Concerts 

Reports to: Senior Manager of Concert Production

Classification: Full-time Exempt Compensation: $56,485-$63,000 annually, with Medical, Dental, Vacation, and Sick Time accrual

Hours / Schedule: 40 - 45 hours a week on average. Generally Tuesday - Saturday, with 2 - 3 evening shifts (3 or 4PM - 11 or 11:30PM), and 2 - 3 day shifts (9AM - 5PM or 10AM - 6PM). Summer hours may vary, with ten or more 12 - 16 hour days for our larger events. 


Job Description: 

The Production Manager is responsible for managing venue operations and supporting in the planning and execution of a variety of events and concerts, both onsite at the Swallow Hill Music location at Yale Ave, as well as various partner locations and venues. This is a key position in the Concert Department at Swallow Hill Music and plays an important role in overseeing all technical and logistical aspects of concert events, ensuring that our events run smoothly from setup to teardown. 


The role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Concert Production and includes administrative, production, and “House Manager” duties for concerts and events. 

Qualifications: 

● Minimum 3 years event management experience 

● Works well under pressure and in a fast paced environment 

● Must be willing and able to work independently and in a group setting 

● Must be willing and able to work long hours, nights, and weekends 

● Working knowledge of technical aspects of concert production and event management

● Ability to solve logistical and technical problems including staging, lighting, sound 

● Excellent time management skills and organizational skills 

● Excellent interpersonal skills 

● Proficient in Google Workspace; and ability to learn required business systems 

● Experience developing and/or maintaining budgets for events (preferred) 

● Experience working with event ticketing platforms (preferred) 

● Experience working with Salesforce (preferred) 


Supervisory Responsibilities: 

● Train, schedule, and supervise event staff and volunteers, box office employees, event managers, hospitality managers, security, sound engineers, merchandise sellers, ushers, attendants, and ticket takers.

● Coordinate vendors and volunteers on day-of the show.



Duties/Responsibilities include: 

● Coordinating/managing event activities to ensure efficient workflows, delineation of roles/responsibilities, resource allocation, etc with other departments (School, Marketing, Patron Experience Team, Finance, Volunteer Manager, etc) on projects such as UkeFest, BanjoFest, the Indiewood Street Music Festival, and/or Swallow Hill Concerts at Four Mile Historic Park 

● Advancing 4 - 8 shows per week; confirming day of show details, processing payment requests, and organizing documents such as stage plots and riders. 

● Managing our ticketing platform (currently Eventbrite). Building ticket pages with a variety of price points and on-sale dates. Import and format ticket pages to our website. 

● Ordering artist hospitality items such as food, snacks, beverages (including alcoholic beverages) and maintaining an inventory of those items 

● Ensure pre-show setup and post-show clean up around the venue, lobby, green room, and Cafe.

● Supervise the day-to-day operations of in-person shows at the Yale Ave location and other venues

● Stage manage events including doors-open checklist, “5 minutes to show” notice, etc.

● Serve as emcee for concerts as needed. 

● Ensure readiness and functionality of in-house gear, equipment, POS iPads, and iPad scanners.

● Physically carry and set up coolers, bins, and set pipe & drape, signage, tables on a regular basis.

● For our larger summer shows, work 12 - 16 hour shifts to support and help manage production.

● Provide additional concert patron support, as needed. 

● Comply with all internal policies and procedures, and all safety and city regulations. 


Physical Requirements: 

● This position requires walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and standing for long periods of time.

● Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. 

● This position also requires hearing to accurately understand information at normal spoken word levels in a potentially loud environment and visual observation for reviewing, checking, preparing, and maintaining written and computer files. 

● Manual dexterity to operate standard office, data entry, and other related facility and production equipment is required.
