Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, dedicated and professional Patient Accounts Representative to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, and facilitating the collection of payments. This role requires a strong understanding of medical coding, billing systems, and the ability to navigate medical records efficiently. The Patient Accounts Representative will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our practice while providing exceptional service to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient accounts to ensure accurate and timely payments
- Contact patients regarding outstanding balances, explain billing statements, and offer payment plans if necessary.
- Prepare regular reports related to revenue cycle performance, such as collections, denial rates, and accounts receivable aging.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding their accounts and billing statements.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to accounts receivable and collections.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with knowledge of medical billing and coding processes.
- Familiarity with coding systems such as ICD-10, CPT codes and medical records management.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
- Previous experience in medical collections is preferred.
