Exciting opportunity with SWARCO, an established 50-year old global manufacturing company located in Columbia, TN . The Senior Accountant position is responsible for performing routine accounting functions such as, but not limited to, general ledger entries, cost accounting, payroll accounting, processing customer receipts and vendor invoices, creation of accurate and timely financial records for the organization and other miscellaneous accounting related tasks. The accountant may also be responsible for handling various disbursements and tax filing duties. The position reports to the Controller and will have substantial interaction with other company departments.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assist in the timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and analysis for management
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, and variance analysis
- Analyze manufacturing costs, labor, and overhead expenses to provide insights for management
- Partner with operations teams to improve inventory valuation and cycle count accuracy
- Ensure accurate reporting of inventory and work-in-progress (WIP) accounts
- Support daily cash processing and ensure that all items, including intercompany, have been posted in the proper general ledger and asset accounts
- Assist with state and federal tax filing requirements
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff to enhance their technical and professional development
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of accounting team members
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the department
- Assist in developing annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis
- Support financial planning initiatives and strategic decision-making
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and financial reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements
- Assist in ERP system implementations and enhancements related to accounting and reporting

Qualification & Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required
- 10 years of financial and cost accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment
- Experience as an Assistant Controller or leadership accounting role preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with IFRS accounting standards a plus
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work cross-functionally
