Job Summary:
Swaybox Studios is looking for a CG Character Modeler to help bring unforgettable characters to life through expressive, stylized, and performance-ready 3D models. The ideal candidate understands how to translate artistic vision and narrative needs into technically sound and visually compelling assets.
This role involves creating and adjusting character models that align with the story, design language, and production requirements. You’ll work closely with art direction, reference material, and performance capture data to build characters that perform effectively in both animated and VFX-heavy pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create and refine high-quality character models based on concept art, reference imagery, or director's notes.
- Ensure models meet both artistic and technical requirements for rigging, animation, and rendering.
- Collaborate with supervisors and the character pipeline team to maintain style consistency and character fidelity across assets.
- Adapt and evolve models based on motion capture data and performance-driven requirements.
- Stay current with emerging tools, performance capture technologies, and modeling techniques to improve workflows.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a character modeler in film, TV, or high-end animation/VFX production.
- Strong proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, and standard modeling/surfacing tools.
- Solid understanding of topology, edge flow, and deformation principles for animation-ready characters.
- Ability to interpret 2D artwork, scans, or photogrammetry into clean, stylized or realistic 3D forms.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to iterate based on feedback from supervisors and directors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with performance capture hardware, software, or data.
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine, real-time workflows, or game engines.
- Familiarity with texturing, lookdev, or rigging processes.
- Background in traditional sculpture, drawing, or character design.
- Comfort using emerging modeling tools or experimenting with AI-assisted workflows.
