Job Summary:
Swaybox Studios is seeking a highly skilled CG Set Modeler to help craft immersive worlds through meticulously designed environments, props, and vehicles. Working from concept art, reference materials, or the Director’s brief, you'll be responsible for building assets that not only support the narrative but also elevate the visual language of the production.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge creative pipeline, using traditional modeling techniques alongside the latest industry tools and technology. You’ll be joining the team at an exciting time, as Swaybox partners with DC Comics on a genre-defining project that will revolutionize how audiences experience stories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and refine high-quality digital models for sets, props, and vehicles based on provided references, concept art, or directorial feedback.
- Ensure models meet both aesthetic and technical requirements for layout, lighting, and rendering pipelines.
- Work closely with the art and production teams to maintain visual consistency across environments.
- Adapt and enhance models to integrate with performance capture data or real-time workflows as needed.
- Stay up to date with emerging tools, technologies, and modeling methods to enhance efficiency and output.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a set or environment modeler in film, television, or cinematic animation/VFX.
- Strong proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, and standard modeling and surfacing software.
- Solid understanding of scale, composition, and modular design for props and environments.
- Ability to model both stylized and realistic environments with attention to storytelling detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative pipeline with evolving creative direction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine or other real-time rendering tools.
- Experience with performance capture workflows and integrating captured data into environment design.
- Background in architecture, industrial design, or scenic/set design.
- Knowledge of texturing, look development, or layout workflows.
- Interest or experience in virtual production pipelines.
