About the Role:
Swaybox Studio is seeking a skilled CG Layout Lead to join our creative team in New Orleans. This role is essential in bringing our visual storytelling to life by translating storyboards and videoboards into immersive 3D environments. As the CG Layout Lead, you will create and animate CG cameras and models, helping to lay the foundation for the rest of the animation pipeline.
Responsibilities:
- Translate storyboards and videoboards into fully realized 3D layouts
- Create and animate 3D cameras to support storytelling and shot composition
- Build and block out CG environments and models to establish scene layout
- Collaborate closely with directors, storyboard artists, and animators
- Ensure continuity and cinematic intent throughout sequences
- Troubleshoot and refine camera animation for timing and pacing
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Autodesk Maya
- Strong knowledge of 3D camera work and keyframe camera animation
- Demonstrated experience with CG scene layout and shot blocking
- Solid understanding of cinematic principles, composition, and continuity
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with 3D tracking and matchmoving techniques
- Knowledge of other 3D software and compositing tools is a plus
- Previous leadership or team coordination experience in layout or previz
