Description
The Patient Financial and Scheduling Specialist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team that coordinates the financial and scheduling of patients seeking care. Responsible for appointment and surgical scheduling, insurance authorization. Selects and reserves specific equipment for the case scheduled, maintains positive and professional customer relations and seeks client feedback. Works collaboratively with the Pre-Admission Center clerical staff to schedule pre-admission appointments. Functions as a collaborative and participative member of an interdisciplinary team, consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Pain and Headache Center and Swedish Medical Center.
Protects the financial integrity of the clinic by confirming patient insurance information including eligibility and coverage limitations and completing authorization and pre-certification of services provided. Makes financial arrangements and secures payment for services rendered, including collecting of co-pays and charge entry. Protects reimbursement for services by assisting patients with payment plans and options. Interviews patients and/or families to determine funding source. Applies financial and collection policies. Assists all patients requesting financial assistance through financial aide programs, processing all necessary paperwork, and in addition, assists patients in determining alternate sources of coverage for hospital stays as well as payments arrangements for private pay accounts.

Required Qualifications:
2 years Patient registration, financial counseling or insurance company experience
Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Office and the Excel programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Business or Accounting
1 year experience in a medical inpatient or outpatient admitting setting
