Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Production Manager to oversee the production operations of our small food manufacturing business in Paterson, NJ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day production activities, ensuring product quality, and leading a team to meet production targets while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the daily production schedule to meet customer demands, ensuring efficient use of resources, materials, and labor.
- Supervise, train, and develop production staff to maintain high levels of productivity and morale. Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Ensure that all food products meet safety standards, quality specifications, and compliance with food safety regulations. Implement corrective actions when quality issues arise.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Manage raw materials, packaging, and finished goods inventory to ensure smooth production flow and avoid shortages or excess stock.
- Enforce strict adherence to food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, FDA regulations) and workplace safety protocols. Conduct regular safety training and audits.
- Maintain accurate records of production, quality control checks, and inventory levels. Generate production reports for management and recommend improvements.
- Address and resolve production-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and avoid disruptions in production schedules.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that all machinery is functioning properly and coordinate any required maintenance or repairs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production management within the food industry, preferably in a small business environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a small team, motivate staff, and ensure clear communication across departments.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA) and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address production issues and optimize processes.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Food safety certification.
- Familiarity with specific food production processes and machinery, such as packaging, labeling, or processing equipment.
- Experience in applying lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles in a food production environment.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with standard business hours.
- Work is performed in a food production environment that includes exposure to typical industrial conditions (e.g., temperature variations, noise, machinery).
- Some manual labor may be required, including lifting and moving materials.
