What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at Sweeten CPA, P.C.?
We are currently seeking a full-time bookkeeper to join our team at Sweeten CPA. We are an advisory CPA firm with 31 employees. Title: Bookkeeper
Pay: $20/hr
Location: South office, 78748 (Slaughter & Menchaca)
No prior bookkeeping experience needed.
Typical bookkeeping tasks include (but are not limited to):
- Categorizing and reconciling financial activity
- Creating and reconciling amortization tables
- Creating, processing, or reviewing invoices, invoice payments, bill, bill payments, deposits, and charges
- Reminding clients for document requests and resolution of bookkeeping questions
- Meeting with clients
- Meeting with team lead
- Meeting with coworkers
- Filing and amending 1099s
- Filing and amending sales tax returns
- Processing payroll
- Journaling account balances from source documentation, like sales channels from POS sales summaries, inventory from inventory management system, etc.
- Reviewing and analyzing financial reports for management purposes
- Scrubbing balance sheets
- Reorganizing Chart of Accounts
- Memorizing and running reports in QBO
- Attending staff meetings
- Stay up to date on admin notifications and requests
- Adhere to the guidelines of the handbook (i.e., security protocols, professional behavior, timesheet due dates, etc.)
Absolutely do not reach out if you are not:
- Good with client communication — both kind and efficient
- Diligent & self-motivated — we don't (and don't want to) micro-manage
- Organized by your calendar
- Interested in accounting, bookkeeping, or taxes and pursuing a career in them
- Comfortable with a fully digital work environment — seriously, no paper!
- A good note-taker
- Familiar with Microsoft apps, i.e. Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.
It would be nice if you are also:
- Proficient with QBO, especially if you are QBO Certified
- Used to managing multiple clients/accounts simultaneously
- Quick with a quirky Zoom background
- Comfortable filing sales tax, payroll tax, or BPPR (county) tax
- Familiar with running payroll and filing payroll forms
- An Excel wiz kid
- Excited to categorize and reconcile financial activity
- Interested in learning more bookkeeping skills as you go
- A good Google-r of questions — don't believe everything you read, but a little research goes a long way
