General Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning, directing, managing, and implementing the curriculum, activities, assessment and operations of their Special Education Caseload. The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with the General Education Staff, Therapists and any other staff to ensure the needs of all students are met.

Minimum Educational/Certification Qualifications:
B.A./ B.S. degree from an accredited college in Elementary or Early Childhood Education or related field is required. Licensure from PTSB in Special Education Early Childhood is required. If a Teacher does not possess a degree in Early Childhood Special Education or licensure from PTSB in Early Childhood Special Education they must possess an exemption from PTSB and be working on a teaching degree and licensure in Early Childhood Special Education.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and implement early childhood activities for your assigned caseload that are aligned to the Wyoming Early Learning Standards, NAEYC Standards, adopted curricular resources, and are in accordance with the Rules and Regulations Governing Services for Children with Disabilities according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure the goals for students are met.
- Meet weekly and monthly with your assigned General Education Teacher, document and submit meeting minutes.
- Document and submit classroom schedules, behavior plans, lesson plans, data collection, and parent communication as directed.
- Maintain regular verbal and written communication with parents/guardians of children on your assigned caseload and provide periodic status reports to them. Keep a communication log and documentation of parent contact.
- Serve as the case manager for all assigned students on your caseload. This includes all paperwork, meetings, assessments, data collection, transitions, etc.
- Communicate with the Special Education/Compliance Coordinator on a regular basis to keep them informed of significant events in the program and with the students.
- Clean and disinfect your area, materials (toys, furniture, etc.) and the conference room.
- Stay informed and in compliance with current laws and practices, which may include attending training, online training, or seminars, contingent on budgetary allowance.
- Must attend staff meetings, team meetings, training, and other required meetings on time and as scheduled. This includes fundraising events, open house, and parent/teacher conferences.
- Respect the cultural diversity and dignity of others and treat them with fairness and courtesy.
- Must follow all policies and procedures of SCCDC.
- Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
- Volunteer and participate in organizational fundraising and events as requested.
Skills Required:
- General computer skills, including in depth knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, etc.
- Ability to learn new procedures, laws, and software, as needed.
- Ability to work in a collaborative work environment.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality relative to all matters at SCCDC.
- Must be reliable, organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to interact in a positive and effective manner with a wide variety of people including children, parents, families, staff members, and community members in order to promote positive relationships within the work setting and community.
- Ability to multi-task and manage large and small projects without supervision.
- Must be willing to serve on SCCDC sponsored committees.
- Represent SCCDC in a professional manner.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a variety of positions, including but not limited to: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, etc.
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to tolerate air conditioned buildings and fluorescent lights.
- Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment.
- Must be able to hear and process ordinary conversation, telephone conversation, and quiet sounds with or without aid.
- Must be able and willing to drive to meet job requirements.
- Must be able to operate and use equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
