This position is responsible for performing state-mandated smog inspections on vehicles, diagnosing and repairing vehicle emissions systems, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

This position is responsible for performing state-mandated smog inspections on vehicles, diagnosing and repairing vehicle emissions systems, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Smog Inspections:
- Perform accurate and efficient smog inspections on a variety of vehicles according to state regulations.
- Utilize state-approved smog inspection equipment and software.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle emissions systems to pass smog inspections.
- Maintain accurate and complete inspection records.
- Adhere to all state and federal smog inspection regulations.
- Vehicle Repair:
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle emission system components, including:
- Catalytic converters
- Oxygen sensors
- EGR valves
- PCV valves
- Mass airflow sensors
- Evaporative emissions systems
- Perform necessary repairs accurately and efficiently.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot emission system problems.
- Advise customers on necessary repairs and provide accurate cost estimates.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
- Explain repair procedures and costs clearly and concisely.
- Answer customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Other Duties:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist other service technicians as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on the latest emissions regulations and repair techniques.
- Adhere to all dealership policies and procedures.
- Required:
- Valid and current state-issued smog inspection license.
- ASE certifications in Engine Repair and/or Emissions Repair (preferred).
- Proven experience in automotive repair, with a focus on emissions systems.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred:
- Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Knowledge of dealership management systems.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to work in a noisy and sometimes dirty environment.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Good eyesight and hearing.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
