The National Account Director creates and implements company strategies and tactics at a national level driving revenue and profit for the organization. The National Account Director is responsible for producing extraordinary results in developing superior business relationships, building trusted advisor status in our largest accounts to achieve all key metrics, including volume and profit targets. The primary focus will be delivering company financial objectives, strategic planning and executing of customer plans that deliver brand priorities while growing market share, cultivating and growing relationships with key retailer partners.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Development
- Impacts base and incremental volume through maximizing promotional frequency and mix
- Mediates and “sells” promotions and customer performance criteria, ensuring profitability
- Monitors business results versus plan and adjusts accordingly
- Provides brand and category priorities to multi-functional resources, such as Territory Managers
- Achieves brand share gains at account greater than or equal to market/customer growth
- Penetrates account to reach key decision makers, building joint customer business plans to improve utilization of organization programs
Category Management/Business Planning
- Influences account decision makers to achieve share growth equal to or greater than account/market in Distribution, Shelf, Merchandising and Pricing (DSMP)
- Execute new item objectives through expedient shelf placement, timely order processes and retail placement follow through
Financial Management
- Initiates joint customer planning to create and develop account specific promotions
- Plans and evaluates potential cost of promotion prior to implementation
- Updates the appropriate financial management systems indicating: Spend, Committed, Actual balances; manages and communicates balances and opportunities
- Adheres to pay for performance policy and assigned budget
Training and Development
- Participates in a leadership role in all national, regional team meetings and trade shows
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business, Commerce, or Marketing
- 10 years of customer management experience within the Food/CPG industry
- 3 years of experience in category management
- Exceptional analytical abilities, budget management expertise, and advanced customer presentation skills
- Strong influence, negotiation, and contract management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field such as Business, Commerce, or Marketing
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite
Travel: Up to 50%
