Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental management systems to achieve an accident-free and environmental incident-free facility.
- Continuously improve environmental and safety systems, driving employee engagement for optimal results.
- Ensure compliance with safe work practices in line with local, state, and company standards.
- Implement and monitor health and safety programs to identify and mitigate risks from hazards.
- Manage safety initiative progress and tracking systems, focusing on:
- Prevention of serious injuries and fatalities.
- Identification and remediation of top 5 hazards.
- Closing gaps in critical health and safety programs.
- Lead the development of Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures related to water, air, and solid & hazardous waste management.
- Communicate safety requirements, transitions, and procedures from corporate office to local teams.
- Manage regulatory reporting requirements and the permitting process.
- Develop safety and environmental leaders within the team and mentor safety coordinators within operations and maintenance teams.
- Foster a safety culture that encourages proactive identification of safety risks and drives continuous improvement.
- Oversee drift assessment and learning event processes with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- 10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or environmental sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, with expertise preferred.
