The Lead Material Program Manager (MPM) is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive supply chain strategies across complex programs and product life cycles. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams—including Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance—to ensure efficient material and subcontract management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in program execution, risk mitigation, supplier performance, and financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve supplier and program delivery performance.
- Oversee material and subcontract milestones to ensure timely and compliant execution.
- Manage program budgets related to materials and subcontracts; drive financial performance improvement.
- Serve as a primary liaison between Supply Chain and key internal stakeholders.
- Analyze performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and lead corrective actions.
- Collaborate across matrixed teams to lead supply chain efforts from concept through production.
- Develop cost estimates using risk and opportunity modeling for new business and ongoing efforts.
- Ensure alignment and compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Support program finance by tracking and forecasting material cost performance.
- Communicate program requirements to suppliers and ensure alignment through the supply base.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance; lead recovery strategies for challenged suppliers.
- Report supply chain status clearly and transparently, focusing on solutions and risk mitigation.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 7 years of experience.
- Experience in supply chain and program management across full product life cycles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
- Experience with new business proposals and capture activities.
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making capabilities in cross-functional environments.
- Experience managing subcontracts through various development and production phases.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost account management.
- Knowledge of applicable industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Experience creating technical statements of work (SOWs).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
