What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist position at Switchgear Power Systems?
We are looking to add a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Coordinator to the team! This is a brand new position responsible for evolving, developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and training. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and compliant workplace and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization!
Summary of Job Duties:
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Design and deliver training programs on safety practices, emergency response, first aid, CPR, new hire orientation, and workers' compensation procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Chair monthly safety committee meetings.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding safety concerns, providing guidance on best practices for maintaining a safe work environment.
- Manage and update the OSHA 300 log.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to occupational health and safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred or equivalent experience/training required.
- Proven experience in a safety coordination role or similar position within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EHS principles, EPA guidelines, and workers' compensation law.
- Certification in First Aid, AED, CPR, and OSHA30 is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train employees at all levels effectively.
- Ability to work independently, excellent time management, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Solid problem solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software tools.
