Job Summary:
The Production Planner is responsible for organizing and optimizing production schedules to meet customer demands and company objectives. This role involves coordinating resources, materials, and labor to ensure efficient workflows and on-time delivery of products. The planner monitors inventory levels, analyzes production data, and adjusts plans to address potential bottlenecks or delays. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including operations, sales, procurement, engineering, and quality control, is essential to maintain production efficiency and align with business goals. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are critical for success in this role. Serves as the liaison for manufacturing, sales, engineering and upper management to ensure timely production flows.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports production operation and cross-functional stakeholders in the development and implementation of plans to meet goals in safety, productivity/cost-reduction, quality, on-time delivery, and business growth.
- Gathers and analyzes data including, but not limited to, labor, materials and logistics costs, capacity/demand, and inventory accuracy to drive actionable insights and continuous improvement.
- Manages the creation and distribution of all production work orders with Production Supervisors and Team Leads.
- Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, and Operations to improve forecasts, production planning and order delivery schedules, including MRP (Materials Requirements Planning), capacity planning, trial kitting, level loading, and material availability.
- Coordinates with Materials Control team and third-party logistics (3PL) providers on proper administration of material receipt processes, including paperwork, order and inventory system updates, and resolving receiving error issues.
- Manages the timely creation and execution of all supply chain transfers to and from the 3PL.
- Participates in cycle counting and inventory record accuracy activities in support of company goals of 97% accuracy.
- Understand packaging and labeling to assist with optimization, internally or externally.
- May expedite and ensure delivery to the work areas via kan ban, checklists and other supplier communications.
- Supports the company’s quality and ISO programs through continuous improvement in processes and procedures, interdepartmental collaboration, and annual audit processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills; experience working with large data sets.
- Fundamental understanding of transportation, supply chain and logistics concepts.
- Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution in Business Administration, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related major field.
- Related experience in supply chain, sourcing, materials management, forecasting, demand planning or related field.
- Two to four years of related purchasing experience in supply chain, materials management, forecasting, demand planning or related field.
- Experience within industrial/manufacturing markets.
- Working knowledge of an MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing prints as well as technical information/specifications.
- Training or working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management (TQM) concepts.
- Purchasing / supply chain certification(s) from the American Purchasing Society, Institute for Supply Management, APICS (Advancing Productivity, Innovation and Competitive Success) or comparable certifications.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- At times may need to work in an Industrial warehouse environment with varying work levels and uneven surface areas.

- Normal auditory, visual acuity including depth perception and peripheral vision, ambulatory ability and dexterity
