What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Advocate position at Sybil's House?
The Child Care Worker (CCW) provides assistance and caregiving services to at-risk adolescents in a group home environment. The CCW is responsible to enhance the resident's wellbeing by assisting them to live responsibly within their home and to learn to be responsible within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with achieving their goals as identified in their person-centered plan.
- Maximum supervision of residents and observe and monitor residents activities.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation on each resident, including daily observations, information about activities, meals served and medication.
- Monitor the behavior of residents to maintain a safe home environment. Help residents to resolve disputes.
- Prepare well balanced meals. Monitor and abide by residents dietary restrictions and/or allergies.
- Provide transportation to and from school, appointments, and community activities.
- Support residents emotional and social development and encourage positive self-concepts and understanding of others.
- Oversee and ensure residents complete their chores.
- Perform housekeeping duties, to include but not be limited to, laundry, cleaning the home, dishwashing, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, taking out the trash, mopping and sweeping the floors.
- Maintain and model appropriate and positive behaviors and encourage these behaviors among residents.
- Administer prescribed and over the counter medications and ensure accurate and timely documentation
- Maintain the security of the home; ensuring items requiring a locked and secure location are always locked and secure.
Essential Physical Performance Requirements:
- Must be able to intermittently stand for time periods of up to six hours a day.
- Must be able to read, communication verbally and in writing with fellow workers, residents, and the public.
- Must be able to kneel, squat, bend, reach, and twist during the course of the workday.
- Must be able to safely operate a vehicle and have a valid drivers license and current auto insurance.
Education and Experience Required:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience of working with children and families or 30 hours on the job training with a CCW.
- Must have a satisfactory DMV record and criminal background check.
