Position: Estimator

Location: Folsom, California

Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000/year

Position Summary

The Estimator will perform and support others in estimating function.

Key Responsibilities

· Attends pre-bid project meetings and job walks.

· Develops and maintains contacts with clients. Interface with clients to partner and bid projects to their requirements.

· Reads and reviews all general requirements in specifications.

· Identify unique characteristics within a bid: schedules, high hazard safety requirements, penalty clauses, subcontractors, material procurement and other risk management requirements.

· Manage pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions.

· Solicits, evaluates, and selects bids from subcontractors.

· Prepare estimates to meet projects goals such as work processes, hours, schedules, specific materials, and selection of subcontractors.

· Ensures proper communications are maintained during bid process with estimating team members, general or subcontractors, engineers, and suppliers.

· Determine total cost of labor, materials, equipment, and insurance costs for projects bid.

· Accurately enter information into estimating software system during estimating process. Checks work of others involved in bid to guarantee estimating methods and accuracy are maintained.

· Ensure required bid documents are accurate, prepared per requirements and ready for submittal before bid deadline.

· Participates in project reviews and pre-project meetings with client and Syblon Reid project teams.

· Maintains estimating database to use historic costs for future projects.

· Works with project team during and after project to review job cost and execution to identify lessons learned for estimating of future projects.

· Analyzes unsuccessful bids to determine and errors or corrections needed to bid future projects.

· Trains and coaches estimators and operations employees performing estimates.

· Deals with internal and external clients in a professional manner consistent with Syblon Reid Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications

· 3-5 years of progressive estimating experience.

· 3 years of field construction experience preferred. Proficient in Civil Construction means and methods,

· Ability to partner and communicate with clients, subcontractors and other Syblon Reid employees to successfully estimate projects.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.

· Strong organization and time management skills

· Strong math, problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills

· Experience in HCSS estimating software preferred.

· Possesses a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

· Physical ability to conduct pre-bid and project field visits.

· Must possess current driver’s license and maintain acceptable driving record according to company standards.

· Physical requirements include being able to lift and carry 75 lbs. and walk on uneven surfaces.

· Must be authorized to work in the United States.
