Essential Job Functions (you will be trained and work in conjunction with the owners as well as leading the instructional team in Center):
- Ensures timely, personal, and high-quality customer service at all times by responding to calls, text messages, emails, and walk-in inquiries
- Schedules and hosts monthly meetings with customers to discuss student progress and scheduling, provides quality and accurate recommendations to customers based on their needs
- Manages marketing and sales activities to drive new enrollments
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Center
- Manages invoicing and billing for the business
- Attends meetings with directors and necessary staff to brainstorm and implement interventions needed to improve performance, grow the Center, and maintain quality customer service
- Spearheads staff hiring, motivation, and scheduling; conducts regular performance reviews to maintain instructional quality
- Reviews all corporate communication and ensures communications are relayed to the applicable staff;
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with teachers, educational specialists and other school administrators and parent/teacher organizations
- Ensures the professional appearance of the Center meets Sylvan standards
- Ensures adherence to established Sylvan operating standards with particular attention to student safety and well-being
- Trains teachers for instruction and for any additional programs
Knowledge Required
- Four-year degree required; educational background highly preferred
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience required
- Experience using Microsoft Office and standard business applications used by the Center (Google platform), including current social media tools (Facebook, Instagram)
- Knowledge of general office equipment including, but not limited to, copiers, printers, and office phones
- Experience using instructional technology and tablet computers (iPad)

- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills: outgoing, people-oriented approach preferred
- Compassionate and caring personality with the ability to talk and work with students of all ages
- Strong leadership skills: proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop Center staff
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven sales skills with a strong sense of confidence (because Sylvan works!)
- Driven and motivated work-ethic: proven ability to self-direct daily tasks to ensure the Center needs are met
- Strong word processing, data entry, and other administrative skills
- Strong organizational skills: proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing: ability to proofread and edit copy
- Ability to work collaboratively: Sylvan succeeds because of strong team players
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some Saturday mornings (we serve students after school hours and our motto is "School's out, but Sylvan is IN!")
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds

Regarding working remotely - Sylvan pivoted quickly so that we could continue to serve students and keep them moving forward in their education. It continues to be possible for the Center Director to serve our parents before and after hours remotely. However, in-person attentiveness is crucial to the top-notch service we offer our families, so this position is an in-Center, NOT REMOTE placement.
