Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

As the VP, HR for the Consumer Bank you’ll partner with the Head of the Bank, leaders in Finance and cross functionally across Synchrony to drive engagement, talent programs and process across the SYF Bank team.  This position plays a key role within HR and within Finance as an HR partner, diversity champion, change management leader, and employee advocate. You will also play a pivotal role in the evolution of our hybrid workplace strategy through the design and delivery of innovative activities to our hybrid employee population in the NYC Bryant Park Hub.

 

We’re proud to offer you flexibility!  This position is eligible to work remote, where you will work from home, and may require you to occasionally commute to one of our hubs for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training, and culture events.  Remote candidates will be considered who live near either our Stamford, CT and/or New York, NY Synchrony Hubs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with SVP, SYF Bank to develop talent and engagement strategies aligned to the short and long term business strategies.
  • Collaborate with SVP, HR to effectively manage change within the team, Finance function and across the organization related to the Bank.
  • Develop, manage, and implement impactful engagement plans in support of Synchrony’s culture, values, diversity and flexibility.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues across the enterprise on Bank matters that impact their functions, serving as a central point of contact for HR.
  • Provide HR business partner support through thought partnership and coaching to all levels of employees while engaging cross functionally with the HR teams in the functions.
  • Partner with SVP, HR to provide strategic direction, creative solutions and execution of deliverables related to staffing and retention, succession management, talent development, employee relations, resource planning, compensation and benefits, and performance management.
  • Manage, facilitate, and create employee growth and development programs, to ensure skills development to achieve short and long term goals.
  • Work internally and with external staffing organizations to identify and recruit key talent and to foster a diverse candidate pipeline.
  • Design and deliver innovative experiences and activities to our hybrid workforce as the NYC HR Hub Leader (Bryant Park).
  • Lead other initiatives or projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree OR in lieu of degree, a high school diploma and 12 years of HR experience

  • 8 years of increasing HR Generalist and COE experience in Human Resources.

  • Experience as an effective business partner supporting multiple executive level clients, exempt and non-exempt employees.

  • Experience supporting a geographically diverse, matrixed client group.

  • Demonstrated strength in coaching, employee relations and conflict resolution.

  • Experience working with remote/virtual teams

  • Strong skills at building relationships with various levels in an organization.

  • Excellent analytical, written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Strong influence and change management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive HR processes and to deliver high quality HR services in a fast paced, high change environment.

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources or Business-Related Field.

Grade/Level: 13

                                                                      

The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
