Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks in a fast-paced medical environment. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process.
- Schedule appointments for both outpatient and inpatient services, ensuring accurate coordination with medical staff.
- Maintain patient records, including updating personal information and medical history.
- Answer phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls to appropriate personnel.
- Process insurance information and verify patient eligibility for services.
- Assist with the management of X-Ray requests and other diagnostic procedures.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow within the clinic.
- Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare providers.
- Uphold confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of emergency medicine practices, particularly in a Level II Trauma Center environment, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinic operations and procedures.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other office software applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical administration is a plus.
