Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, Executive Protection (EP) Specialist will be part of Synchrony’s Executive Protection Team that is responsible for providing strategic security and safety for Synchrony executives. This will be done through a collaborative effort with the Synchrony Logistical Planning, and Intelligence and Investigations Teams, as well as the Synchrony Security Operations Center. The AVP, EP will assist in planning, assessing, executing and assuring residential security, and may provide secure transport and event security.

The AVP, EP will also contribute to virtual monitoring of the executives through various technological tools, analyzing information and responding to the data appropriately.

This role will primarily be based in Fairfield County, CT.

Work to include rotating schedule to include overnight, weekend, and in-office shifts.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Protection Strategy: Analyzing applicable circumstances, strategize most effective methods to provide physical security to the executive through preparation, detection and response to passive and active threats. Includes coordination with the Close Protection EP detail, close monitoring and assessment of the executive's surroundings through physical and technological controls to ensure a protective perimeter, and intervening in any suspicious or threatening situations. Ongoing assessment of effectiveness of security program, with expectation of real-time analysis of all aspects of executive security, along with recommendations for strategic enhancements to such. At times will enhance event security requiring some travel.

  • Incident Response: Response will require swift and independent judgement and decision making, reacting swiftly and effectively to any security threats, intel or incidents, coordinating with emergency services if necessary, leading strategy for response and de-escalating tense situations.

  • Liaison and Communication: Lead open communication with executive/event security teams, law enforcement, Synchrony contracted security and other relevant stakeholders as needed. Prepare detailed reports and analysis of situational intel.

  • Physical Fitness and Firearms Proficiency: Maintaining a level of physical fitness and proficiency with firearms, as required by regulations and specific situations.

  • Technology: Utilize various physical security tools, analytics and intelligence to secure the executives and/or their physical residences.

  • Work with EP Leader to document processes, job aids and risk mapping.

  • Assist in Executive Protection strategic and functional planning.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years prior law enforcement and or military, with HR218 designation and/or the ability to carry a weapon domestically in all 50 States. In lieu of Law Enforcement experience, minimum of 7 years’ experience in protective security operations and/or corporate security with ability to carry weapons in all 50 states. .

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in protective security operations, corporate and/or law enforcement with hands on experience in executive protection.

  • Must be able to work Night hours and weekends

  • Possess, or eligible to obtain, advanced driving skills and defensive driving techniques

  • Familiarity with security technology.

  • Computer skills relative to protection security technology controls

  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to achieve armed guard certifications, as required by jurisdiction

  • Travel less than 15 % of time.

Grade/Level: 10


The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.


Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
