Syndeo Staffing has a direct hire opportunity for a Project Estimator (Rebar estimator) for a construction supply client. This client, offers a full-line of concrete forming systems, foundation supplies, offering construction equipment and other contractor supplies to customers.
As a Project Estimator (Rebar Estimator), your duties are primarily to estimate the number of reinforced steel bars (rebar) and other related construction or manufacturing materials needed for a specific project. We are looking for someone with experience in the construction or supply industry to collect relevant data and use computer-aided design or building information modeling software to arrive at accurate estimates. The successful candidate will be able to complete rebar estimates in a timely manner and follow up with customers to secure bids and manage current projects.
Responsibilities:
- Estimate Rebar Requirements: Accurately estimate the quantity, sizes, and types of rebar required for construction projects based on provided plans, specifications, and other project documents.
- Material Sourcing: Research and identify potential suppliers, ensuring quality, pricing, and timely delivery. Collaborate with vendors and negotiate pricing to secure the best deals, striving to minimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Cost Estimation: Calculate the cost of rebar materials based on the estimated quantities and negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure competitive rates and adherence to project budgets.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide accurate estimations related to rebar materials. Address any queries or concerns raised by stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all cost estimates, pricing negotiations, and supplier contacts. Prepare detailed reports, including itemized breakdowns of costs, for review by management and for inclusion in project proposals.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements, including new products, technologies, and building codes, to enhance estimating accuracy and provide value-added suggestions. Participate in training or professional development opportunities as required.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the construction project team, including estimators, project managers, and purchasing staff, to ensure proper coordination and support throughout the project's lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in construction supply estimation, particularly with rebar materials, is preferred.
- Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in computer-aided design and construction project estimates
- Estimating software experience with solid mathematical skills
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of concrete projects using steel reinforcing materials (preferred not required)
