Syndeo Staffing has a direct-hire opportunity for an Accounting Director to work for a company that has provided services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the McPherson area for more than 50 years.
We are looking for a competent, dynamic, experienced individual to take on the role of Director of Accounting. Candidates must possess excellent finance, accounting, management, and communication skills. The position is responsible for the operation and team management of the Accounting Department and all related department personnel. This includes accounts payable and receivable, timekeeping, and payroll staff. The successful candidate will monitor all accounting transactions and functions and will produce monthly financial statements for 5 entities, along with related reports for the company and its related entities. Competence in non-profit accounting preferred with the ability to meet a multitude of deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required, MBA and/or CPA preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience with team management of 5 or more
- This position must maintain a very high level of timeliness, confidentiality, and accuracy.
- Experience with Google Docs, Microsoft Office and cloud computing preferred.
- Experience with accounting software required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions and staff including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, Medicaid billing, and client housing.
- Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end
- Prepare the annual budgets for the multiple entities.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
- Oversee external reporting to outside stakeholders.
