A premier home décor and interior design retailer is looking for a highly organized and proactive Assistant Designer to join its dynamic Product Development team. This role specializes in upholstery textiles and fabric development, playing a key role in crafting high-quality materials for furniture, including sofas, chairs, and benches. Key Responsibilities
- Research & Development: Assist in exploring new fabric and leather trends, technologies, and developments. Support innovation in textile design.
- Sample Management: Oversee the coordination, organization, and tracking of fabric and leather samples. Maintain a comprehensive sample library.
- Testing & Evaluation: Conduct quality tests on materials, document results, and provide feedback to development teams.
- Communication & Coordination: Facilitate seamless communication between design, sourcing, merchant teams, and global offices. Track and expedite sample deliveries with suppliers.
- Administrative Support: Organize meetings, prepare presentations, and maintain detailed records related to fabric and leather development.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
- Previous experience (internships included) in fabric development, textile manufacturing, or similar fields is preferred.
- Familiarity with upholstery fabric and leather development processes is a strong plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Must be able to comfortably lift approximately 25 lbs, as the role involves moving fabric rolls.
- Positive, energetic, and resourceful with a proactive and team-oriented mindset.
