JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Advocacy & Patient Affairs plays a key role in supporting the development and execution of advocacy strategies that amplify patient voices within Syneos Health and for our biopharma industry customers. This individual will collaborate with advocacy organizations to build meaningful partnerships and contribute to the overall advocacy and patient affairs objectives of the company. The roll supports Syneos Health advocacy and patient voice strategy across clinical and commercial activities including, operations and new business development. Responsible for day-to-day support and maintenance of strong customer relationships, helping to support organic growth within existing clients, as well as participating in new business efforts to support both clinical and commercial communications business development efforts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Management
- Serve as the supporting point of contact for advocacy/patient engagement and assist in tactical planning.
- Understand and help translate client business needs into actionable solutions that align with client objectives and advocacy/patient community needs.
- Co-facilitate regular meetings with clients alongside senior management to maintain positive working relationships and build customer confidence.
- Support the execution of project plans, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, with guidance from senior management.
- Identify and suggest improvements for account and project efficiency.
Business Development
- Support senior management in developing Statements of Work (SOWs), budgets, conducting industry research, and assisting with presentation development.
- Help identify and cultivate opportunities for organic growth within existing client relationships.
Subject Matter Expertise
- Advocate for solutions that prioritize patient needs and preferences in both internal and external strategies.
- Stay informed about global patient advocacy and patient insights practices, adapting strategies accordingly.
- Understand and communicate Syneos Health's capabilities and service offerings.
- Engage professionally and empathetically with patient communities.
- Maintain knowledge of customer therapeutic areas and clinical development processes.
Oversight and Operations
- Assist in implementing project plans under the guidance of senior management.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills in:
- Assisting with project timeline development and execution.
- Delegating tasks to team members as directed by senior management.
- Supporting project kickoffs and action plan development.
- Handling multiple projects within an account under supervision.
- Participate in landscape and social media audits.
- Contribute to the creation of community-facing content, discussion guides, and surveys.
- Support the moderation of patient advisory boards and council sessions.
Collaboration, People, and Culture
- Seek opportunities to enhance collaboration with internal teams to deliver client solutions.
- Foster relationships with patient advocacy organizations and clients.
- Embody and promote Syneos Health's core values and a positive work environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks, professional development, and performance appraisals of team members under the direction of department leadership.
Financial Management
- Assist with financial management tasks, including:
- Contributing to the development of budgets and SOWs for new projects.
- Supporting invoice tracking and financial forecasting.
- Participating in regular budget reconciliations.
- Assisting with communication of budget details to clients and the internal team.
- Help analyze project utilization reports to identify areas needing scope and budget adjustments.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience plus extensive experience working with patient communities and patient advocacy groups
- 4-5 years relevant job experience and a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
- Proficient in managing multiple tasks and working with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent time management and project management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships across patient advocacy groups and patient communities
- Strong understanding of the patient advocacy landscape and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with key patient and care partner stakeholders and customers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.
- Proven ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to the values of patient-partnered care and community engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- <10% travel may be required (departmental meetings, advocacy conferences, client meetings and bid defenses)
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,000 to $120,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
