About the Role :
This is not just an estimating job it's a business-critical role in one of Florida's top road-building contractors. As a Senior Civil Estimator, you'll be responsible for analyzing company resources (crews, equipment, backlog) and aligning them with the best contracts to maximize profitability and ensure continuous work.
This role requires a strategic thinker who understands how contract specifications, available manpower, and market conditions impact the ability to compete and win work profitably. You'll be working on FDOT and other major capital paving projects, putting together competitive bids, and ensuring the company stays ahead in the road-building market.
Key Responsibilities.
- Prepare detailed estimates for roadway / heavy civil projects (including FDOT and other southern DOT work).
- Analyze available resources (crews, equipment, backlog) to determine whether to bid as a GC or subcontractor for maximum profitability.
- Evaluate contract specifications and how they impact the ability to perform work efficiently.
- Identify opportunities to push competitors out or strategically allow them in when beneficial.
- Work closely with preconstruction, contracts, and outside subcontractors to ensure accurate bidding.
- Understand market trends, pricing strategies, and how to position the company for success.
