Job Summary:
Synergy School of Tomorrow, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeping Assistant to support the Finance Department. This full-time position will assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with school policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, experience with Step-Up Scholarship funds, and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Process accounts payable by reviewing invoices, issuing payments, and maintaining vendor records.
Handle accounts receivable, including tuition payments, Step-Up Scholarship funds, and other financial transactions.
Maintain accurate financial records and update accounting software with transactions.
Prepare and reconcile bank statements, financial reports, and other necessary documentation.
Support payroll processing, employee reimbursements, and financial data entry.
Monitor budgets, track school expenses, and assist in financial reporting.
Handle petty cash transactions and maintain financial documentation.
Ensure compliance with school financial policies and audit requirements.
Communicate with vendors, staff, parents, and scholarship organizations regarding financial matters.
Assist in preparing reports related to Step-Up Scholarship funding, ensuring proper allocation and compliance.
Provide administrative support to the Finance Department as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 1-2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a school or nonprofit setting.
QuickBooks knowledge is required to effectively manage accounting tasks.
Knowledge of Step-Up Scholarship funding, tuition billing, and school financial policies is highly preferred.
Proficiency in Excel and other accounting software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential financial information.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of financial compliance and audit requirements (preferred but not required).
