Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Property Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of property accounting experience, a strong understanding of financial statements, and a proactive approach to managing a portfolio of properties. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Accounting Director and grow with the company as we expand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements for properties, including monthly reconciliations and variances.
- Create and post month-end journal entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage a portfolio of 22 properties, overseeing all related accounting functions.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Director to streamline processes and ensure financial reporting is aligned with company goals.
- Work closely with property management teams to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual budgets, forecasts, and other financial reports.
- Monitor and track the performance of properties, identifying and analyzing key financial metrics.
- Provide support during audits and assist with compliance-related matters.
- Contribute to process improvements and the adoption of new real estate accounting software.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 2 years of property accounting experience (no formal training required; ability to independently manage a portfolio is essential).
- Strong experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements for properties, including month-end journal entries.
- Familiarity with real estate software systems; Yardi experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced, growing company.
