Job Summary
Reporting to the Product Steward Manager, ensures Synthomer complies with Global Product regulations by completing project and routine work that supports the Coatings and Construction solutions (CCS) division and other business requirements. This is accomplished by using internal systems and processes that support the company’s continued compliance, identifying any potential inefficiencies and reporting them to the management team. Focusing on key Americas regulations such as TSCA, FIFRA and Canadian DSL requirements, communicate legislative changes, compliance concerns and implementing ways of being compliant to the regulations by assessing the business impact and communicating throughout the department and wider business. Facilitate the delivery of departmental projects by completing set packages of work.

Primary Responsibilities
- Supporting departmental & business colleagues in understanding the technical details of regional legislative changes within the US and the impact this brings to Synthomer
- Accountable for delivery of subject matter projects and all allocated enquiries for the US market in support of legislative changes, issues or market concerns. This is with the main focus of the CCS division. However, time will need to be spent on other Divisional requirements for Adhesive solutions (AS) and Health & Protection and Performance Materials (HPPM).
- Apply a high level of scientific rigor to the analysis and assessment of data to draw and present conclusions in support of business decision making
- Works with regional Commercial teams to identify and validate new business opportunities in coordination with the Product Steward Divisional Manager
- Clearly communicate findings/ requirements in respect of sustainability topics / regulatory queries
- Representing Synthomer in local or national trade associations; recommending changes to and impact of US (and wider Americas) legislation
- Pro-actively identify, report on and improve safety related issues using available tools and systems
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field. Master’s Degree preferred with a minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience in polymer, coatings or other similar environment working in an industrial Regulatory/Compliance role.
- Strong project management skills with excellent communication and organizational skills, often demonstrating leadership in responses.
- Ability to use regulations together with data to make recommendations, drive business decision, and provide practical, actionable and value-added recommendations.
- Self-motivated, well-organized and able to multi-task, adapt to change, prioritize tasks, and commit to follow-through and deadlines.
- Highly analytical, solutions and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously providing practical solutions and business critical thinking to assess the impact of legislation of the organization
- Excellent skills in Business Acumen; able to stay on top of changing regulatory rules and procedures.
