Wage Scale: $18.24 - $26.70 (typical starting wage is $18.24- $22.47 DOE)

Hours: Regular hours: Mon - Fri (7:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
Position Summary:
This position is responsible in helping to keep all Syracuse City owned building running and functioning, such as maintaining the building structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, etc. This may include tasks such as inspect Syracuse City buildings and other structures to determine functional systems; routine maintenance; restock supplies; routine and specialty floor cleaning; detect malfunctions and make note of repairs needed and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet; perform minor electrical maintenance such as: replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.); using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools; perform minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.); to provide safe and operable and efficient facilities for city personnel; assist in performing minor HVAC work (e.g. adjusting and calibrating thermostats, pneumatic controls and HVAC and electric energy management systems; installing pipes for high pressure air systems; repairing water, gas, electric, and air pipes and lines in or under floors, walkways, and walls, etc.); to maintain a comfortable temperature for employees; exercise proper equipment operation using various hand, power and specialty tools; perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.); perform snow removal of walkways and steps around city buildings; perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of: Electrical, painting, carpentry, masonry, HVAC and plumbing building standards; Hand,
power and specialty tools, including their uses, repair and maintenance; safety procedures
- Skilled in: Handling multiple projects with interruptions; Prioritizing and organizing workload to meet
Deadlines
- Ability to: Use common hand, power and specialty tools as well as miscellaneous office equipment;
operate and maintain snow blower and other snow removal equipment; receive, understand and follow
directions as given; work with minimal supervision, read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; communicate effectively both
verbally and in writing

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, hazards associated with HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Equipment work. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, to high, precarious places, and to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate or moderate loud noise.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Class 'D' Utah Driver's License or able to get one within 14 days of hire.
- Valid Off- Highway Vehicle license or able to get one within 30 days of hire.
