Job Description
The Assistant Director of Recruitment will assist the assistant dean and associate director plan, implement and evaluate various efforts in student recruitment and public relations for the College of Arts and Sciences and Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Responsible for the supervision of the A&S | Maxwell Student Ambassador Program, Maxwell specific communications, developing international recruitment initiatives and developing strategies to use information from our CRM, Slate, such as demonstrated interest and other relevant factors to improve yield. Strong collaboration with faculty, staff, and students.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Reasonable experience in recruiting and familiarity with Syracuse University, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School of Citizenship is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication ability.
  • The ability to use excel and other databases to maintain and present data.
  • Flexibility in fast paced deadline-oriented environment.
  • Experience or educational background related to the promotion of equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Experience in educational recruitment and admissions strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with daily visitors in the admissions office, speak with students and families at recruitment events, on the phone and via Zoom. Attend off-campus recruitment events and conduct admissions interviews.
  • Manage the A&S | Maxwell Student Ambassador Program and student employees including; hiring, training, and scheduling
  • Develop recruitment pipelines in existing and growing markets. Travel to Boston, NYC, and Washington D.C. regularly to cultivate applicant pool and improve yield.
  • Collaborate with central international team and international advisors to develop new initiatives to strengthen international student recruitment.
  • Assume responsibilities of all Maxwell related communications. Plan, write and distribute communications about programs, admissions events and coordinate Maxwell specific social media content.
