Job Description
COU 739 – School Counseling for College Access and Retention (synchronous)
School Counseling for College Access and Retention
3 credit(s) Only during the summerSchool counseling related knowledge, skills, and awareness necessary for college access. Use of the American School Counselor Association National Model to influence P-12 students, families, schools, colleges and the entrepreneurial admissions sector.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education (or a highly related field).
  • School and/or Career Counseling experience preferred.
  • Higher Ed teaching experience highly desired.
  • Experience of virtual and experiential instruction desired.
  • Experience teaching graduate-level school counseling students preferred.


Job Specific Qualifications

Responsibilities
Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.

Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.

Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.

Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.

Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.

Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

Participating in departmental meetings or workshops.

Provide student proficieny data for NCATE (if required)

Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
