Job Description

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Speech Language Pathology in Speech Sound Disorders. The postdoctoral researcher will:

  • Collect data following IRB-approved protocols for speech therapy for children with residual speech sound disorders.
  • Perform acoustic and perceptual analysis of speech.
  • Write manuscripts and grants.
  • Assist with data coding for speech samples, complete blinded ratings of children’s speech, and learn machine learning approaches to data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Clinical and/or research experience with speech sound disorders
  • Ph.D. completed by May 2025

Data collection following IRB-approved protocols for speech therapy for children.

Data coding, including acoustic and perceptual analysis of speech.

Manuscript and grant writing

The postdoc will aid research project by assisting with data coding for speech samples collected as part of the study, which requires completing blinded ratings of children’s speech. The postdoc will also learn machine learning approaches to data analysis and will apply the approach to classifying various speech errors based on acoustic information.
