Fleet Maintenance Technician III

About the Job:

• Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all fleet vehicles, ensuring safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and repair complex electrical and refrigeration systems, as well as perform moderate supervisory roles when needed.
• Mentor and teach junior technicians to aid in their development and advancement within the company.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Conduct thorough inspections of fleet vehicles and equipment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary repairs.
2. Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues, including those related to engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
3. Maintain accurate records of work performed, using computer-based diagnostic software and other tools as needed.
4. Educate and train junior technicians on proper repair techniques and procedures.
5. Serve as a role model and provide guidance to junior staff members.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year degree and 4 years of experience or 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance preferred.
• Certifications: Annual Inspector Certification, Brake Inspector Certification, ASE certifications in automotive and medium/heavy duty trucks, EPA section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification.
• Excellent knowledge of vehicle systems and components, with expertise in diagnosis and repair of electrical and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to operate various pieces of equipment, with proficiency in welding and cutting.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 100 pounds, with ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, push/pull, lift/carry, and grasp tools.

Working Conditions:

• Frequently works outdoors, with occasional exposure to wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and confined spaces.
• May be required to travel to other Operating Companies or the corporate office for training, business continuation, etc.
• Noise level is usually moderate.
