JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President of global finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for guest supply’s global financial services organization which supports 7 business segments totaling over $1 billion in annual revenue, domestic lodging ($800M), manufacturing ($15M), guest supply Canada ($36M), guest supply EMEA ($39M), guest supply China ($24M), guest supply Hong Kong ($25M) and Gilchrist and Soames ($66M). Responsibilities include global financial reporting, planning, analytics, management and accounting practices to ensure proper internal controls and procedures are established in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) and followed to safeguard the company’s assets and properly satisfy the company’s financial obligations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the global CFO for the specialty company and determines the methods and procedures for executing its financial operations under corporate and government compliance.
  • Strategically partner with specialty company president and Chief Operations Officer (COO) and leadership team to drive profitable growth through analysis, influencing and action on pricing, new customer acquisition, business ventures, solution profitability, and cost controls.
  • Assist in the solicitation of new or prospective businesses (domestic and international) by participating in company meetings and presentations when necessary and in other activities to develop and foster the company’s recognition within the global business community.
  • Responsible for ensuring guest supply’s consolidated profit plan across its 7 segments; domestic and international is prepared as directed by Sysco corporate.
  • Develop, monitor and lead business strategies for reporting, forecasting, and planning, which includes establishing the appropriate financial targets for guest supply’s domestic and international businesses and proactive analysis of the financial statements for opportunities to increase income.
  • Monitors progress and make adjustments/recommendations as needed.
  • Ensures budgets and forecasts (monthly, quarterly and annual) are accurate and timely.
  • Lead the day to day operations of the global financial services organization.
  • Direct the planning and development of the finance/accounting team and establish goals to measure their performance.
  • Monitor, evaluate and provide feedback to managers on progress towards goals.
  • Coach and develop management in balancing the delivery of high productivity, quality and customer service.
  • Counsel and direct management on handling employee relations, staffing, disciplinary actions and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Conduct regular department meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea-sharing and suggestions for improvement.
  • Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary.
  • Promote continuous training and development of associates.
  • Head and facilitate change management in support of organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership to expand return on investment (ROI) through efficient deployment of capital investments, working capital and resources.
  • Perform market, customer and product analysis to proactively identify both new opportunities and potential risks to future business performance.
  • Analyze operational activity reports and help identify potential problems.
  • Recommends necessary actions to correct those identified.
  • Coordinate and monitor comprehensive audits of internal company operations and controls to ensure regulatory compliance with applicable government laws (i.e., Sarbanes Oxley Act).
  • Continually monitor and ensure optimum return rates on investments/company assets.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • Bachelor degree in finance, business, accounting or economics.
  • MBA in finance strongly preferred.
     

Experience

  • 10 years of experience in a senior accounting/finance position, preferably including global and M&A experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing others, including demonstrated success in effectively leading and developing a team.
  • 5 years of profit and loss (P&L) responsibility and work experience.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Certified public accountant (CPA) preferred.

  • Demonstrates subject matter knowledge of and experience with the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley Act and ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs and/or equivalent products.
  • Work in a disciplined, consistent, timely and objective manner and capable of following established policies, procedures and practices.
  • Complies with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to travel and interact successfully with a geographically diverse team.
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook) –PeopleSoft experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Phocas, and Salesforce.com helpful.
