Job Description:
The client is seeking an Environmental Engineer with 10 years of experience who exhibits excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive "can do" approach, and thrives in a high-energy environment. The role involves working as part of a team supporting various environmental projects, specifically focusing on soil, sediment, and groundwater remediation. This includes tasks from initial investigations through construction and site closeouts. The primary scope of work will involve former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites. The position is based out of the Bridgewater, NJ office, but the candidate must be willing to travel to suppliers, clients, site investigation locations, and construction sites in the New York City area.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership on geotechnical, sediment remediation, civil, and other complex environmental projects.
- Function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the group's work.
- Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit on large-scale projects requiring significant manpower and financial investment.
- Lead other engineers and design personnel on environmental projects.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the professional engineer's seal and signature when required by statute or contract.
- Prepare material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; review supplier data; witness shop tests; assist with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop operation and maintenance (O&M) plans; prepare standard operating procedures; develop O&M manuals; conduct onsite training of personnel.
- Conduct surveys, studies, and site investigations; perform reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM), and safety analyses.
- Maintain affiliation with professional societies to stay updated on current technologies.
- Help determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule; assist with other administrative and technical duties.
- Recommend, prepare, and present technical papers and reports; review and assist in compiling technical reports and documents prepared by others.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 10 years of related work experience. A Master's degree in Engineering is strongly preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration (or ability/plan to obtain within 12 months) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to perform in a lead capacity, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with industry practices and regulations is required.
- Thorough knowledge of MGP investigation and remediation, current applicable remedial technologies, and the ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software for projects.
