System One is currently seeking an  Environmental Specialist on a 3 year contract position located in Calera, AL. 

Environmental Specialist Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for assisting in environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, and developing and implementing sustainability initiatives.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, minimize environmental impacts, and drive sustainable practices.
• Monitor and ensure water quality compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay updated on evolving environmental regulations and proactively implement necessary changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices into daily operations. 
• Assess and mitigate environmental risks associated with company operations.

Environmental Specialist Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of environmental regulations, project management skills, and the ability to provide environmental collaboration within the organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• One to five years of experience in environmental sampling and compliance.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Working knowledge and experience with the operation of power boats and watercraft.
• Project management skills with the ability to participate in a team setting on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders.
• Proficiency in environmental management software and data analysis tools.

Duration: 3 years 
Location: Calera, AL 
Pay Rate: $32/hr
