The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the administration of a broad range of HR functions while helping to ensure the integrity, efficiency, consistency and effectiveness of all Human Resources initiatives. The HR Generalist is also responsible for promoting and fostering a positive and productive work environment while actively promoting System Services culture.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Support the recruitment process by posting open positions, prescreening candidates, and interviewing as needed
- Support new hire onboarding process to ensure new hires are integrated effectively into the company including coordination of all pre-employment testing and background checks, as well as, conducting new hire orientation as needed
- Promote and administer HR practices, programs, processes and policies to help support employee relations, performance management and employee retention
- Promote positive employee relations through HR administration while promoting System Services culture and values
- Assist in driving organizational change by contributing to process improvements, policy updates, and culture-building initiatives
- Ensure data integrity in all Human Resource systems (Accounting System, Timekeeping System, and Benefit Portals)
- Support the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401K, paid time off and leave policies
- Provide administrative support for employee benefits and vendor invoice reconciliation
- Record and document data to support HR reporting metrics, proactively highlighting trends for leadership related to turnover, retention and employee engagement
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Facilitate communication between employees and management to address workplace issues
- Communicate accurately and appropriately with all employees and management in a timely manner
- Work closely with the Safety Department to ensure efficiencies related to onboarding and orientation, drug testing administration, return to work testing, CDL, FMCSA and PHMSA related administration
- Ensure compliance with all national, regional, and local employment laws, rules, and regulations
- Help maintain accurate job descriptions for all positions
- Utilize HR professional and technical knowledge in performing all assigned duties
- Coordinate employee events as needed
- Additional projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Represent the organization in local networking events, professional associations, and community service initiatives to enhance the company’s visibility and employer brand
- Occasional travel for recruiting events, training sessions, or site visits
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Organizational Development, Communication, or Industrial Psychology preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years of prior experience as a HR Generalist or similar role in Human Resources required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and HRIS systems
- Thorough understanding of Federal/State employment laws (e.g., EEO, FMLA, ADA, and Worker’s Compensation)
- Human Resource Certification preferred (SHRM CP or PHR)
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task job duties
- Ability to meet deadlines and professionally represent company
- Excellent customer service skills
- Effectively manages time and resources
- High School Diploma Required
- Primarily works in an office setting but may occasionally work in a construction site and/or warehouse environment, which may involve exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or attending meetings
- Ability to operate office equipment, such as a computers, phones, printers/copiers, and tablets
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the office and or field environments as necessary
- Occasionally required to lift and carry office supplies, files, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots, when visiting worksites
