Job Title: Infrastructure Solutions Architect
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Infrastructure Solutions Architect to support the planning, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance computing (HPC) systems and enterprise infrastructure. This role requires deep technical knowledge across storage systems, databases, cloud environments, and automation frameworks. The ideal candidate will also play a crucial role in ensuring system availability, data security, and disaster recovery capabilities across enterprise infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Basic HPC security
- Implementing and maintaining data management infrastructure
- Providing support for SAN and NAS storage, backup/recovery environments and virtualization infrastructure by implementing, managing, and monitoring the hardware and software
- Playing a major role in the security, disaster recovery and services continuity of a highly available enterprise storage and backup infrastructure by following established procedures and compliance requirements
- Technical support (installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade, retirement, troubleshooting).
- Configuration management using frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
- Administration of high-speed network storage systems including Mellanox switches, and NAS Cluster.
- Managing, configuring, and supporting cloud systems such as setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting cloud compute engines and storage buckets
- Managing databases(eg:SQL Server, PostGreSQL , MySQL, Oracle)
- Assisting staff to access and utilize computing resources
- Co-ordinating with Labs and DTMB staff on maintaining and managing the computational resources
Required Skills and Experience:
- 10 years of experience with Linux CLI environments and scripting in R, Python, and Bash.
- 10 years of experience with workload management systems (e.g., SLURM).
- 10 years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining HPC systems.
- 10 years of experience managing databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle).
- Strong experience with system administration, including software/package installation and system configuration.
- Expertise with clustered server storage environments and enterprise-grade storage solutions.
- Deep experience with hands-on troubleshooting, issue resolution, and report generation.
- Proficiency in configuring storage, networking, load balancing, VMs, firewalls, and monitoring on Linux systems.
- Extensive knowledge of computer security principles.
- Experience with package management tools like Conda, Docker, and Singularity.
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools (Ansible, Puppet, NextFlow).
- Experience in cloud computing environments (infrastructure setup and maintenance).
- Familiarity with software frameworks for monitoring and big data analysis.
- Ability to provide infrastructure recommendations with a focus on cost and performance optimization.
- Preferred knowledge in HL7 messaging standards.
- Ability to interpret configuration files (e.g., web.config), analyze logs (e.g., IIS, Dynatrace), and address resource optimization.
- Familiarity with tools like Cloudflare, ForcePoint, and related policy rules.
- Understanding of application junction configuration and failover setup.
- Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover implementation.
