Physical Activity of this position: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees., Moving about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another., Expressing or exchanging ideas. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately or quickly. , Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. , Ability to receive detailed information with or without assistance.
Physical Requirements of this position: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading., Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. , Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services,) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection).
The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position: The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Aquatics & Safety Coordinator provides leadership and direction for the WSU Campus Recreation Aquatics & Safety program offered in the WSU Swenson Pool area and Swenson/Stromberg Complex. Programs include:

- Swimming lessons
- Lifeguard certification classes
- Water safety instructor (WSI) certification classes
- Lifeguard services
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification classes
- Aquatics special events.
Required
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in exercise science, kinesiology, human performance management, recreation, health, or related field AND two (2) years professional experience in areas listed below OR associates degree degree with four (4) years related experience.
- Experience in:
- Pool operations and aquatics and safety programming.
- Hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising lifeguards, water safety instructors, and other safety staff (must be able to train lifeguards).
- Aquatic risk management protocols.
- Experience in budget management.
- Customer service.
- Certified in Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED Professional Rescuer.
- Current instructor level certification to include American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (LGT), Water Safety Instructor, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent).
- Computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation/publication programs).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in exercise science, kinesiology, human performance management, recreation, health, or related field.
- More than one year experience in
- pool operations and aquatics and safety programming.
- hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising lifeguards and water safety instructors.
