Florida State University Campus Recreation is seeking candidates to fill the position of the Assistant Director, Fitness Facilities. This position will collaborate in the operations, administration, and management of fitness facilities and aquatic programs for students, faculty/staff, and members of the community based on current research and industry trends. This position has responsibilities at both the Leach Student Recreation Center and the Fitness and Movement Clinic (FMC) fitness facilities.
Responsibilities include a wide variety of administrative and supervisory duties including, but not limited to: personnel management, fiscal management, professional and student development, risk management, and program and policy development. This position is a full-time, professional staff member within the Department of Campus Recreation and reports to the Associate Director of Facilities within Campus Recreation. Key Responsibilities
- Provides overall direction, administration, and management of fitness facilities, facility rentals, and aquatic programming in Campus Recreation. Oversees staff development, risk management, program assessment, and quality control measures.
- Develops, administers, and monitors the annual budget for fitness facility operations and aquatic programs.
- Coordinates shared facility space of Campus Recreation fitness facilities including the Dr. Bobby E. Leach Recreation Center and Fitness & Movement Clinic. Develops, interprets, and implements policies and operating procedures. Responsible for the enforcement of departmental and University policies.
- Oversees recruitment, selection, hiring, and evaluation of fitness facility and aquatic programs personnel. Supervises and mentors Fitness Facility Coordinator, Aquatics Coordinator, and OPS student and non-student employees. Provides leadership to the overall training and development of OPS student and non-student employees in collaboration with Coordinators.
- Collaborates with Maintenance Staff to evaluate and coordinate major facility and equipment purchases, installations, and repairs.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Recreation, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field and two years of experience. Master's preferred, but experience substitutable with Bachelor's and four years of experience in related fields accepted.
