What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance and Quality Improvement Manager position at Systems Unlimited?
Description
You will make a genuine difference in the lives of others, particularly those who have physical, mental, and behavioral disabilities. You will do this by ensuring agency environments are healthy and safe. You will also evaluate agency documentation, case files, incident reports, medication reviews, and environmental reviews to ensure safety and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations for the agency. You will work in the office during our regular office hours of Monday - Friday from 8:00-4:30, with travel to satellite locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
You will namely be doing the following:
- Leading, training, and organizing CQI staff,
- Preparing, distributing, and analyzing regular surveys for individuals served, employees, and external stakeholders,
- Conducting training for supervisors and other pertinent staff on relevant CQI systems and processes,
- Participating in the collection and analysis of data for all compliance and quality improvement activities,
- Working closely with the CQI Administrator to stay current with state regulations and changing priorities,
- Serving as a key administrator of the SUI documentation system,
- Assisting with preparation for required agency surveys and audits by accrediting bodies,
- Maintaining appropriate physical and electronic files, and
- Organizing, reviewing, and distributing records as requested by funders.
You will also be diligent in terms of following confidentiality guidelines, fiscal responsibilities, training, policies, and procedures. You'll attend required meetings and complete work and training per established timelines. You will also represent the agency appropriately through your actions, conduct, and attire. You will utilize basic math and timekeeping skills and support CQI-specific expectations and additional duties as deemed necessary by your superior.
You'll show leadership through supporting the staff and the individuals we serve in the following ways:
- Directly supervising CQI staff in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and applicable laws,
- Planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining; addressing complaints and resolving problems, and
- Setting timelines to ensure tasks are completed according to established deadlines.
Additional duties may include participating in the training of staff through one-on-one training, group training, and collaboration with supervisors and coordinators to address identified issues.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You are an ideal candidate for this role because you can successfully support the SUI mission and as detailed in the handbook for the agency. You have a diploma or a GED, you have a driver’s license, you are at least 18 years old, and you know how to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.

- Strong leadership skills, including organizing and delegating work, delivering consistent honest feedback to staff, and motivating a team,
- A willingness to learn new things and train staff across service areas,
Ability to collaborate and an interest in working with various departments across the agency to improve services,
- The ability to read rules and regulations, interpret them, and make recommendations for how to apply them,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and an interest in learning various technological systems,
- Familiarity with documentation requirements for services provided by the agency, and
- The ability to deliver feedback about service quality in a tactful and honest way.
